Democrat Micah McCarey elected as Athens City Council President

Democrat Micah McCarey has been elected as Athens City Council president following an unopposed campaign, with 1,528 votes cast.

Incoming Athens City Council President Micah McCarey (at-large) ran unopposed for the seat on the May 6 primary election ballot. There were 1,040 votes cast for McCarey, according to preliminary election results from the Athens County Board of Elections, and he will appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
